What it helps with
Microneedling improves the texture and tone of the skin: acne scars and marks, dark spots, fine lines, enlarged pores and dull skin.
How it works
A device with very fine needles makes thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. Your skin responds by repairing itself and producing new collagen and elastin, which makes it smoother and firmer over the following weeks. The channels also help serums absorb better during the session.
What to expect
- Numbing cream goes on first, so most people feel pressure and light scratching rather than pain.
- Your skin will look red and feel tight for one to three days. You can usually wear makeup again after 24 hours.
- Avoid sun, exfoliants and retinoids for about a week, and wear sunscreen every day.
- The glow shows within a week. Collagen keeps building for about three months, which is why a series works better than a single session.
Who should wait or skip it
Wait if you have active acne breakouts, cold sores, an infection or a sunburn on the area, or if you took isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last six months. Microneedling is not done during pregnancy. We check your skin and history at the consultation.
Questions about microneedling
Does microneedling hurt?
With numbing cream, most people describe it as light scratching or vibration. Sensitive areas such as the forehead or upper lip can feel stronger.
Can it treat acne scars?
Yes, it is one of the most common reasons to do it. Deep scars need a series of sessions, and they soften rather than disappear completely.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?
Microneedling is considered safe for all skin tones because it does not use heat or light. We adjust the depth to your skin.
